The breaking down of nutrient molecules in the living cells to release energy for metabolism

The ability to sense or detect stimuli in the internal or external environment and the ability to react to change in environment

The permanent increase in dry mass or size by increase in cell size, number or both
Excretion
Removal of waste products from metabolism, toxic material and substances in excess requirement.
Nutrition
The taking in of material for energy growth and development. Plants require light, carbon dioxide, water and ions. Animals require organic material, ions and usually need water
