What are the 2 types of depression?

Major depression= an episode of depression that can occur suddenly
May be reactive (caused externally) or endogenous (caused internally)
Manic depression (bi polar)= alternation between 2 extreme moods which occur in a regular cycle Mania= over activity, rapid speech, extreme happiness Depression

What are the 3 types of responses to depression? Examples?
A
Emotional: sadness, loss of interest, irritability
Physiological: sleep deprivation, agitation, fatigue, loss of energy
Cognitive: poor concentration, indecisiveness, poor self-esteem, hopeless, thoughts of self-harm

5 OR MORE: •insomnia most nights •fidgeting or lethargy •tiredness •feeling of worthlessness or guilt •less ability to concentrate •recurrent thoughts of death Must not be caused by medication or situations such as bereavement, hinder day-to-day functioning
