What are the four main responsibilities of the General Convention?
Electing the General Council

Providing for the raising and disbursement of revenues
Enacting laws for the regulation of the Fraternity (Ritual, Constitution, General Statutes of the Fraternity)
When was the General Council created, and what does it do?
Established in the Convention of 1880. Executive/Administrative board that interprets and executes laws
The Province President
Oversees divisions of fraternities by geography and makes sure individual chapter operations are running smoothly.
The Survey Commission
Composed of alumni volunteers and is responsible for the creation and revocation of chapters/charters.
The Housing Commission
Coordinates housing for chapters
The Phi Delta Theta Foundation
Established in 1958, and awards scholarships and funds educational programs.
The Canadian Foundation
Established in 1974, and provides scholarships to Canadian chapters
The Frank J.R. Mitchell Fund
Mitchell was the author of The Scroll, and the fund helps support the production of it.
The Walter B. Palmer Foundation
Established in 1922, and helps with maintaining chapter houses
The David D. Banta Endowment Fund
Established in December 1955, and helps support the Memorial Library.
