Minton’s Playhouse in Harlem, where after hours jam sessions often went till the early mornings. Bebop or just Bop made it’s way to 52nd St. where it became the place to hear this new music starting in the mid 40’s.

A

Combos, tempos faster, clarinet & rhythm guitar were rare, surprise was highly valued, drummers time primarily on ride cymbal, drummers dropping bombs (bass drum). Music for listening!
