Divine Right of Kings (Europe)

A

God gave the king the right to rule. If God wants someone to be king, he will make them be king. If he doesn’t want them to be king, he will take that position away from them.

The people vote directly on matters- the majority vote. Ex. Ancient Greece (Athens). Works small scale, but isn't great for large-scale elections

Parliamentary Democracy
You elect representatives, representatives choose the head of state (i.e. the prime minister)

Presidental Democracy
People elect both representatives in the lawmaking courts and their head of state (Congress and POTUS)

Unitary System
power goes from the national government to local government offices (no mayor, governors, etc). EX Britain

Power shared between the national government and the state/local government (the United States)

Local and state governments have all the power and there's minimal national power (Articles of Confederation, Confederate states of the US)

Land, labor, capital, entrepreneurship

run by custom- usually just local. EX the barter system

left to the people, you do what you want with your own money EX capitalism

Command Economy
Government runs the entire economy and people get no say (Communism/Socialism)

Mixed Economy
Blend of Market and Command economies- you do what you want with your money, but you follow certain government rules and regulations.
