Define cuneiform
Using a wedge to compose written wedge shaped characters stone or other materials
Define conventions
A large meeting of people who come to a place for several days to talk about their shared work or other interests
Define Hieratic scale
The use of different sizes for significant or holy figures and those of the everyday world to indicate importance. The larger the figure the greater importance.

Define Nanna
King ur-nammu of the third dynasty of UR built a ziggurat in honor of nanna the moon goddess
Define pictographs
A symbol for a word or phrase. Pictographs were used as the earliest known form of writing. examples of been discovered in Egypt and Mesopotamia from before 3000 BC
Define Polytheistic
It is the belief in many gods it’s the opposite of monotheism which is the belief in one God. if you believe in polytheism you have a bunch of gods to thank or blame
Define phonogram
A unit symbol of sound in a writing system.
Define stele
A term that archaeologist use to describe large wooden or stone slabs that were carved with images and information about a particular society
Define Tigris and Euphrates river
The Tigris and Euphrates river form a major river system in western Asia. the sources of this river system flow through Syria Iraq and into the Persian golf
Define votive
Expressing a religious Vow, wish or desire. performed as an expression to thank God
Ziggurat
A rectangular steps tower sometimes surmounted by a temple. Ziggurats are first made in the late third millennium and probably inspired the biblical story of Tower of Babel
