The teaching authority of the Catholic Church that exercises the authority it holds from Christ to the fullest extent when defining dogmas. The Pope in communion with the Bishops
Authority
It means “right” or “author’s right”. The Church has authority because she is under the right of God, the author, and the Lord.
Tradition
It means “what is handed over” or “handed down”
Ecumenical
Means “worldwide”
Infallible
Means “preserved by God from error”
Fiat
It means Yes
Ecclesia
It means to “call out of”
Three offices in the Church
These are teaching, sacraments, and apostolic authority. Prophet, preistly, and kingly respectivley. All Christians are called to fill these three offices.
The Church as one
The Church is one because Christ her head has only one body. Also because she has one lord, one faith, and one baptism. The Church also shares one love of God
The Church as Holy
The Church is Holy in a way that her members aren’t. Her doctrine, moral principles, and sacraments are Holy because they are directly from Christ.
The Church as Catholic
The Church is universal because Christ is universal. The Church is also Catholic because she has been sent out by Christ on a mission to the whole of the human race.
The Church as Apostolic
She is apostolic because of her mission to evangalize, preach the gospel. She is also built upon the foundation of the apostles, who ordained their sucessors as Christ ordained them.
