Q

Chapter 10

A
  • Raveloe villagers decide that a pedlar, who recently visited Raveloe, is responsible for the robbery.
  • This shows their superstitious view of outsiders
  • Dolly Winthrop visits Silas with the gift of lard cakes and advice. She tells him to go to church and have a break from weaving.
  • However, her advice falls on deaf ears as Silas cannot understand her ‘simple Raveloe theology’ and is too absorbed by his own grief to take heed of her advice.
