they make it - Joseph wakes up and Maurice is gone, he finds a note that says he will be back

- after breakfast, they start their journey to marseille

- met Ange- algerian boy - camp is full of jews

- went to Nice with worker from camp (Ferdinand) fell into a trap and arrested by gestapo
- taken to hotel

- Joseph, Maurice and Ferdinand are reunited in a crowd in the lobby of the hotel
- Ferdinand was interrogated by the Gestapo eventually admitted he was Jewish
- use their pre made up story of being algerian
- said they were circumcised for medical reasons
- interrogation lasted a day
