Purpose of SW

Universal basic needs
those needs that all people share, including needs for physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual grouwth
Physical needs

Relationships with significant others and self-acceptance
Social Growth
includes socialization needs and developing meaningful relationships with other

discovering a meaning for life that provides purpose and transcends everyday experience.
Motivational Needs
Maslow’s hierarchical

Personal development
related to physical welfare, psychological welll-being, intellectual development, interpersonal relationships, and spiritual growth.
Life tasks
Daily living such as growing up in the family, learning in school, entering the work world, marrying and rearing a family.

Identity Development
Mens identity is seen through masculine traits such as autonomy, independence and achievement
Women identity reflect nurturing, caregiving, and helping.
Cultural strengths
The values, customs, and symbols associated with each society reflect diversity in cultural heritage and define cultural identity
-they share particular traits, customs, values, and symbols. A source of pride and esteem, cultural identity offers a sense of belonging
Physical environment
Include natural and human constructed world and it temporal and spatial arrangements, affects how people view possibilities, meet goals and fulfill needs.
-ecological needs (clean water, uncontaminated soil, and pure air), space for living, housing arrangements, and transportation provisions.
