Chapter H - Air Supply Systems Flashcards
Generally, what two systems are used to supply adequate combustion air?
Natural air flow, and forced air flow.
Outside air can be brought to the gas appliance burners in what two ways? Which method is more common?
Ducts, or a hole in the wall. The duct method is more common.
What is the purpose of having louvred grilles, caps, or screenings on air ducts?
To protect from rain, wind and debris from entering the system.
Why do boiler rooms require ventilation openings to allow free circulation of air within the boiler room?
Build-ups of excessive heat, and flue gas spillage.
What is never ducted below the level of the lowest draft control device?
Ventilation air openings are never ducted that low, and should be located as high as possible in a room.
Air supply requirements are split up into what two categories?
Inputs up to and including 400,000 BTU’s (120 kW).
& Inputs over 400,000 BTU’s (120 kW).
What key points must you know before you choose the table for air supply and venting requirements?
- Appliance type and location.
- Building construction.
- Appliance draft control.
