Fredonian Rebellion
Haden Edward was given land to settle 800 settlers and discovered people living on his land so he tried to kick them out and the government instead of helping him, took his land from him and he got angry and rebelled.
Mier y Teran Report
Mier y Teran was sent to Texas to inspect Texas settlements and report back. He reported back that American settlers outnumbered Mexican settlers 10 to 1.
Law of April 6th
The Law of April 6th says that immigrants from the U.S. are banned and all impresario contracts that are not completed are canceled. It also says that they outlawed slavery in Texas. The goal of this law was to stop immigrants from coming to Texas.
Centralist party
Came to power in 1829 and were more strict on colonists. They wanted the central government to have more control.
Federalist party
Came to power in the 1820s and left colonists alone. Wanted states to have more control.
Stephen F. Austin
Stephen F. Austin went to Mexico to deliver the requested changes from the convention. the letter from Austin suggested a temporary state government be set up.
Turtle Bayou Resolutions
The resolutions said that they pledged their allegence to Mexican federalists, they said their actions were against Bradburn, not Mexico. They also stated their loyalty to Santa Anna.
Battle of Velasco
John Austin got a cannon. Ugarthchea attempted to stop him and a fight broke out. Ugartechea surrendered.
Santa Anna
The Turtle Bayou Resolutions are loyal to Santa Anna and in March 1833, Santa Anna becomes president of Mexico.
Convention of 1833
The Texians want to resume U.S. immigration and Texas to be exempt from import taxes and separate statehood for Texas.
