Chapter 9 Flashcards
Recognizing a heart attack
Summon EMS then ask how r u feeling symptoms are:
Chest discomfort
Pressure or persistent
Chest pain
What is cardiac arrest? β€
Caused by heart attack
Drowning
Other conditions.
Occurs when the heart beats irregularly or too weak to circulate blood
Purpose of CPR
To perform a series of chest compressions and ventilations to circulate blood that contains oxygen to the victims brain
What is CCF?????
Chest compression fraction term used to determine how long the chest compressions should be performed
What are the cycles of CPR
30 chest compressions π€πΌ
2 ventilations π©πΌ
Adult compressions
2 inches but NO MORE THAN 2.4
Child compressions
About 2 inches
Infant compressions
1 1/2 inches
Adult hand placement
Heel of hand in center of chest with other hand on top
Infant hand positron
Two fingers on center of the chest below nipple line
Ventilations for all
Until chest rises
Rate of compressions
Between 100 and 120 compressions per minute
What is Ventricular fibrillation (VF)? π₯π¨πβοΈπβ£οΈβ’οΈββ΄οΈβΌοΈπ°π»
Electrical impulses fire randomly creating chaos preventing heart from circulating blood
What is ventricular tachycardia (VT)??π₯ππΎ
Abnormal electrical impulses controls heart fires too fast
DOβs for AED
Make sure no one is touching it before shocking
Use if victim is experiencing cardiac arrest
Use on preggers
Pacemakerssssszzz
