The Judiciary Act of 1789 established a federal court system
What could federal courts do to state laws if deemed necessary?
State laws would remain, but federal courts had the power to reverse state decisions.

John Jay – 1st Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
What is a national debt?
National debt – the amount the gov’t owed.
