Chapter 9 Flashcards
Circumference
circumference of a circle is the distance around it.
Pi
the numerical value of pi.
Composite figure
Composite Figures. A figure (or shape) that can be divided into more than one of the basic figures is said to be a composite figure
Face
a face is a flat (planar) surface that forms part of the boundary of a solid object
Edge
In geometry, an edge is a particular type of line segment joining two vertices in a polygon, polyhedron, or higher-dimensional polytope
Polyhedron
A polyhedron is a three-dimensional solid figure in which each side is a flat surface.
Vertex
In geometry, a vertex (plural: vertices or vertexes) is a point where two or more curves, lines, or edges meet.
Base
In geometry, a vertex (plural: vertices or vertexes) is a point where two or more curves, lines, or edges meet.
Prism
A prism is a polyhedron, with two parallel faces called bases.
Pyramid
Math Term Definition. Pyramid. A pyramid is a 3-dimensional (solid) figure that has a polygon for a base and has a single vertex that is not in the plane of the polygon base.
Cylinder
When the axis is perpendicular to the plane of the curve, the cylinder is called a right cylinder.
Cone
A cone is a three-dimensional geometric shape that tapers smoothly from a flat base (frequently, though not necessarily, circular) to a point called the apex or vertex
Sphere
a sphere is defined mathematically as the set of points that are all at the same distance r from a given point, but in three-dimensional space.
Volume
the volume is 75 cubic inches.
Net
A net is the shape that is formed by unfolding a three-dimensional figure.
