What is a mindset?
A cognitive framework to guide one’s attention, information processing, decision making, and thinking about the meaning of effort, success, failure, and ones own personal qualities
What is a deliberative mindset?
An open-minded way of thinking to consider the desirability and feasibility of range of possible goals that one might or might not pursue
What is Implemental mindset?
A post-decisional closed-minded way of thinking that considers only information related to goal attainment and shields agonist non-goal-related considerations
What is the main distinction between implemental and deliberative?
The implemental mindset is more conducive to goal striving than is the deliberative mindset
What is promotion mindset?
A focus on “offense” advancing the self toward ideals by adopting an eager locomotion behavioural strategy (Improvement-based)
What is prevention mindset?
A focus on “Defensive” prevents the self from not maintaining one’s duties and responsibilities by adopting a vigilant behavioural strategy (security-based)
What is growth mindset?
The belief that ones personal qualities are malleable, changeable, and can be developed through effort
What is fixed mindset?
The belief that one’s personal qualities are fixed, set, and not open to change
What are two main achievement goal?
Mastery goals and performance goals
What are psychological well-being symptoms of master goals?
Low self-esteem, low personal control, low vitality, low life satisfaction, low psychological well being
What is consistency mindset?
Information and behavioral actions confirm that, yes, one is a competent, moral and reasonable person
What is dissonance mindset?
Information and behavioral actions suggest that, no, one is actually not a competent moral, and reasonable person
