Emergency Procedures
Emergency Shutdown - Immediate Actions
- POWER LEVERS - OFF
- APU - OFF (if applicable).
- ROTOR BRAKE switch - BRK
- MSTR IGN - OFF once the rotors have stopped.
CANOPY JETTISON - Immediate Actions
- Helmet visors - Down.
- Area around helicopter - Clear of personnel.
- CANOPY JETTISON handle – Operate
Dual Engine Failure- Low Altitude/ Low Airspeed and Cruise - Immediate Actions
- AUTOROTATE - Rapidly lower collective to maintain NR within limits
- CHOP Button - Reset if an ENGINE CHOP warning message is present
ABORT START PROCEDURES
- POWER lever - OFF.
- ENG START switch - IGN ORIDE for 30 seconds and TGT is below 540° C.
Single Engine Failure - Low Altitude/ Low Airspeed and Cruise - Immediate Actions
- Achieve safe single engine flight conditions or land
Engine 1 or 2 Overspeed - Np Failed High - Immediate Actions
- Collective - Adjust to maintain NR within limits.
Np Failed Low - Low RPM Rotor - Immediate Actions
- Collective - Adjust to maintain NR within limits.
Engine Compressor Stall - Immediate Actions
- Collective - Reduce.
LOSS OF TAIL ROTOR THRUST IN CRUISE FLIGHT - CONTINUED FLIGHT POSSIBLE - Immediate Actions
- Airspeed - 100 KTAS minimum (until 10 to 20 ft above touchdown).
LOSS OF TAIL ROTOR THRUST IN CRUISE FLIGHT - CONTINUED FLIGHT NOT POSSIBLE - Immediate Actions
- Collective - Reduce (compromise between rate of turn and rate of descent)
- POWER LEVERS - OFF (5 to 10 feet above touchdown).
- Collective - Increase to cushion touchdown
TAIL ROTOR FIXED PITCH - LOW AIRSPEED OR HOVER - Immediate Actions
- Collective - Adjust to minimize Yaw rate
- Cyclic - Minimize drift
If pedals are jammed: - Break into BUCS
TAIL ROTOR FIXED PITCH - FORWARD FLIGHT - Immediate Actions
- Collective - Adjust to minimize Yaw rate
- Cyclic - Oppose Yaw
If pedals are jammed: - Break into BUCS
MAIN TRANSMISSION INPUT DRIVE CLUTCH FAILURE - IN FLIGHT - Immediate Actions
- Achieve safe single engine flight conditions or land
ENGINE 1 OR ENGINE 2 FIRE - IN FLIGHT - Immediate Actions
- Achieve safe single engine flight condition or land
- Illuminated ENG FIRE button - Press and RDY light illuminates.
- FIRE DISCH button(s) - Press.
ENGINE 1 OR ENGINE 2 FIRE - ON GROUND - Immediate Actions
- POWER LEVERS - OFF
- Illuminated ENG FIRE button - Press and RDY light illuminates.
- FIRE DISCH button(s) - Press.
APU FIRE - ON GROUND - Immediate Actions
- APU - OFF.
- Illuminated APU FIRE button - Press and RDY light illuminates.
- FIRE DISCH button(s) - Press.
APU FIRE - IN FLIGHT - Immediate Actions
- Illuminated button APU FIRE Button - Press and RDY light illuminates.
- FIRE DISCH button(s) - Press.
HYDRAULIC FAILURE - PRIMARY & UTILITY HYDRAULIC PSI LOW - Immediate Actions
- EMERG HYD button - Press ON.
Urgency to Land - LAND WITHOUT DELAY
EMERGENCY LANDING IN WOODED AREAS (POWER OFF) - Immediate Actions
- AUTOROTATE - Apply full collective to decay rotor RPM as helicopter settles.
DITCHING (POWER OFF) - Immediate Actions
- AUTOROTATE (Apply full collective to decay rotor RPM as helicopter settles)
- Canopy - JETTISON prior to entering water.
- Cyclic - Position in direction of roll.
- Exit when rotor has stopped.
BUCS Fail - Immediate Actions
- Transfer flight controls to rear crew station
FLIGHT CONTROL MALFUNCTION - STABILIZATION EQUIPMENT/FORCE TRIM - Immediate Actions
- FMC release button - Press.
NVS Failure - Immediate Actions
- Exit the NOE environment
- Pilot on the controls, NVS Select Switch - Select alternate sensor (PNVS or TADS)
IHADSS/HDU Failure or IHADSS STALE - Immediate Actions
At night (NVS flight)
1. Exit the NOE environment
Single DP Operation - Immediate Actions
- NVS SELECT Switch - Reselect (PNVS or TADS).
or - Crewmember (not on controls) - Assume control
Dual DP Failure - Immediate Actions
