Two types of mental representations
Analogical: An object is often pictured. Physical and mental. (A clock)
Symbolic: Mental representations that do not match the physical aspects. Abstract like numbers, words, ideas.
Prototype model
New objects are categorized based on agreements with the prototype.
Exemplar model
All objects within a category together form the concept.
Decision-making
looking for the best option between different possibilities
Problem solving
looking for a solution to an obstacle in reaching a certain goal.
Two types of theories about making decisions
Normative: describe how people should make decisions (norms). -Expected utility model
Descriptive: The focus on real choices instead of ideal choices.
