What is an ETI?
Ethical trading initiative which is an internationally recognised set of labour standards based on the international labour organisation to drive improvements in workign conditions across the world.
What must new ETI members do?
They must take on the base codes and have active engagement to demonstrate a clear commitment to ethical trade.
They must also drive year-on-year improvements andn report openly and accurately about their activities.
What must the bi-yearly report from ETI members have in?
Who’s driving the ethical trade strategy, hwo much money has been put into ethical trade activities, what training they have given out, how their assess working conditions at their supplier’s worksites.
What happens if the ETI members perform badly and fail to show commitment to the cause?
Their member’s contract is terminated.
What happens after member’s reports are recieved?
The companies are given detailed feedback and areas for improvement. The trends in performace are analysed and good approaches to ethical trade are shared amongst members.
What are forest stewardship council and what do they do?
They promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forest.
They certify timber than has come from a sustainably managed forest.
What are BES6001 and BES6002?
BES6001 - framework standards for responsbile sourcing.
BES6002 - a standrad for ethical labour sourcing.
