Chapter 8 Flashcards
Confidence Interval
Range of values that contains the population parameter of interest
Interval Estimate
Confidence Interval
Margin of Error
Value that accounts for the standard error of the estimator and the desired confidence level of the interval
Confidence Coefficient
Probability that the estimation procedure will generate an interval that contains the population parameter of interest
t Distribution
Family of distributions that are similar to the z distribution except that they have broader tails. Identified by their degrees of freedom df
t Distribution Formula
T = (Xbar - pMean) / (s/ Sqrt(n))
Degrees of Freedom
Number of independent pieces of information that goes into the calculation of a given statistic
Sample Size (n) Formula
n = ((Za/2 * SD)/ MarginofError(E))^2
Margin of Error (E) Formula
E = Za/2 * (SD / Sqrt(n))
