He supported tariff of 1789 but believed the government has the power to borrow money. Congress issued bonds.
What are bonds
Paper notes promising to repay money
Who opposed Hamilton’s plan to fund the new government and why.
Madison and other southerners. Because they believed northerners owned most of the bonds while most of the tax used to pay off those bonds were coming from the south.
Who opposed the national bank and why
Southerners. This was because they believed northerners would own most of the stock. Madison argued that the federal government was not given the power to make a bank through the constitution.

Yes. Congress passed the bank bill.

Madison and Hamilton. Hamilton believed it was necessary to collect taxes, regulate trade, and provide defense.

Congress imposed a tax on the manufacturing of whiskey. The whiskey rebellion erupted in western Pennsylvania in 1794. Washington sent troops to stop the rebellion
What was the Federalist Party.
Believed national government was supreme, ruling power went to wealthy, educated. Wanted loose interpretation of the constitution. Protective tariffs protect domestic industries.
What was the democratic-republicans party
Wanted state government to be supreme. Ruling power to all landowners, believed government should support agriculture. Strict interpretation of the constitution. Believe protective tariffs burden farmers.
Describe the battle of fallen timbers.
Battle with the Native American confederacy. Took place in 1794. This was a United States victory. We settle the treaty of Greenville in 1795 that gave us what is now Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
What was Washington’s message in his farewell address?
We should not make long term alliances with other nations, we should fulfill the promises we have already made. Printed on September 19, 1796
What was the alien and sedation act?
Act passed in 1800. Declared you had to live in the United States for 14 years before you could become a citizen.
What did John Adams do to anger the federalists?
They were damaged by him not declaring war.
