What are the four areas of development with their definitions?
Emotional development
- relates to experiencing the full range of emotions also relating to the expression of emotions.
Physical
- refers to the changes that occur to the body and it’s system.
Intellectual
- refers to the increase of complexity of process in the brain such as though knowledge and memory
Social
- the increasing complexity of behaviour patterns used in relationships with other people.
Examples of physical development
Physical
- growth, changes to the body systems and motor skill development
(fine writing cutting and tying shoelace) and
(gross running throwing a ball and riding a bike)
Example of social development
Behaviours -table manners and being considerate
Social roles - son/ daughter, employees friends and expectations
Relationship skills
Problem solving and open communication
Communication skills
Written and oral communication
Example of emotional development
Developing self concept and how a person sees themselves
Building resilience
Example of intellectual development
Knowledge and memories
Language
Creativity and imagination
