Unicast Host address range:
0.0.0.0 to 223.255.255.255.
A directed broadcast
is sent to all hosts on a specific network.
A limited broadcast
is sent to 255.255.255.255.
IPv4 has reserved
the 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255 addresses as a multicast range
the private address blocks are:
- 0.0.0 /8 or 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255
- 16.0.0 /12 or 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
- 168.0.0 /16 or 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
Special User IPv4 Addresses
Loopback addresses (127.0.0.0 /8 or 127.0.0.1 to 127.255.255.254) Link-Local addresses (169.254.0.0 /16 or 169.254.0.1 to 169.254.255.254) they are used by a Windows DCHP client to self-configure in the event that there are no DHCP servers available

Global Unicast:
Similar to Public IPV4 addresses
Link-Local Addresses:
Used to communicate with devices on the same link
Unique Local:
Private Addresses: FC00::/7 to FDFF::/7
IPv6 link-local addresses are in the
FE80::/10 range
All Nodes Multicast:
FF02::1 All-nodes multicast group
All Routers Multicast group
FF02::2 All-routers multicast group
