Louisiana Purchase
They are told to explore all territory until they reach the Pacific Ocean claim land for USA. They explore Northern part of territory. They leave on May 14, 1804, and return Sept 23, 1806
Meriweather Lewis and William Clerk
Her name means “Bird Woman”. She became a guide to Lewis and Clerk at age of 16. Her son is John Baptiste. She married to a French fur trader.
Sacagawea
He is 4th president. He is Father of the Constitution. He inherits the country in a mess.
James Madison
He wrote the “Star Spangled Banner”. He was the Francis who boarded on Britain ship to release American prison and stay on the boat all night for safety purposes. The next day he was moved by the American flag in Fort McHerny which is a fort outside of Baltimore bombarded by Britain.
Francis Scott Key
He was the 5th President. He was the president during “ Era of Good Feeling”. He signed the Missouri Compromise.
James Monroe
This compromise states four important points. Missouri 1st state located entirely west of Mississippi. Maine is a free state. Missouri is a slave state. It also prohibited slavery north of the 36 degree, 30 minute boundary.
Missouri Compromise
He was the 6th president. He signed the Corrupt Bargain with Henry Clay who became Sectary of State. He last became a House of Representatives member served 17 years. Only former President to do so.
