Chapter 7 Flashcards
What is learning?
human’s ability to adapt with experience
What is classical conditioning?
expecting and preparing for significant events such as the arrival of food or pain
What is operant conditioning?
repeat acts that bring rewards and to avoid acts that bring unwanted results
What is US?
in classical conditioning, a stimulus that unconditionally- naturally and automatically- triggers an unconditional response
What is UR?
in classical conditioning, an unlearned, naturally occurring response (such as salivation) to an unconditioned stimulus(such as food in the mouth)
What is CR
in classical conditioning, a learned response to a previously neutral (but now conditioned) stimulus
What is CS
in classical conditioning, an originally neutral stimulus that, after association with an unconditioned stimulus, comes to trigger a conditioned response
What is the difference between conditioned and und unconditioned?
conditioned: learned
unconditioned: unlearned
What is Acquisition?
when a neutral stimulus becomes a conditioned stimulus; first step of classical conditioning
