Fraction bar
The line separating the numerator and the denominator in a fraction
Numerator
The number above the fraction bar (this number shows the number of equal parts the whole or set)
Denominator
The number below below the fraction bar (this number shows how many equal parts the whole or set is divided into)
Equivalent fractions
Fractions with different denominators BUT they represent the SAME value / amount
Unlike fractions
Fractions with different denominators
Mixed number
The sum of a whole number and a fraction .
Simplest form
A fraction that can no longer be reduced/simplified. (The numerator and denominator will not have NO common factors)
Improper fraction
A fraction who’s numerator is greater than it’s denominator.
Division rule
A rule used to rename an improper fraction as a mixed number.
Multiplication rule
A rule used to rename a mixed number as an improper fraction
Sum
The total amount resulting from the ADDITION of two or more numbers
Difference
The result of SUBTRACTING one number from another
