What is a vaccine?
A
A vaccine is an injection that improves your immune system for untreated diseases.

How do vaccines work
A
- They prepare the body to fight the disease
- They contain a dead strain of a microbe (part of the diseases)
- The white blood cells know how to fight of the disease when ever it is exposed to the body again

Herd immunity
A
If a large proportion of a population is immune to a disease, the disease may slow down spreading or may even disapper

A
A medicine (such as penicillin) that prevents or destroys the growth of a bacteria

Steps for drug development
A
- Animal Testing
- chemical testing : healthy individuals
- Chemical testing : Patient groups (people who smoke etc.)
- Double blind test (sugar drug (placebo) or actual drug)
- Approved by the government

A
A fake medicine given to a group of people and saying it is the real drug during testing

The patient nor doctor knows what drug is a placebo or actual drug so that way the test is fair
