Definition of Motivation.
Motivation is the reason why employees want to work hard and effectively for the business.
What is Wage?
A wage is payment for work, usually paid weekly. Wages tend to be paid to manual workers/labourers.
What is Salary?
A salary is payment for work, usually paid monthly.
What is Commission?
Commission is payment relating to the number of sales made .
What is Profit sharing?
Profit sharing is a system whereby a proportion of the company’s profit is paid out to employees.
What is a Bonus?
A bonus us an additioal amount of payment above basic pay as a reward for good work.
What is Performance-related pay?
Performance-related pay is pay which is related to effectiveness of the employee where their output can easily be measured.
What is Share Ownership?
It is where shares in the company are given to employees so that they become part owners of the company.
What is an Appraisal?
It is a method of assessing the effectiveness of an employee.
What are Fringe Benefits?
They are non-financial rewards given to employees.
What is Job Satisfaction?
It is the enjoyment derived from the feeling that you’ve done a good job.
What is Job rotation?
Job rotation involves workers swapping round and doing each specifc task for only a limited amount of time and then changing rounds again.
What is Job enlargement?
Job enlargement is where extra tasks of a similar level of work are added to a worker’s job description.
What is Job enrichment?
It involves looking at jobs and adding tasks that require more skill and/or resposibility.
