Statistical Assumption
characteristics about a population we are sampling, necessary for accurate inferences
parametric tests
a type of inferential statistical test that are based on assumptions about the population. Aka robust assumptions
nonparametric tests
inferential statistical tests that are not based on assumptions about the population
The Three Assumptions
of Hypothesis Testing; 1. dependent variable is on a measure scale; participants are randomly selected, 3. population distribution is approx normal. 30 scores is considered a good sample size.
statistically significant
a finding is statistically significant if the data differ from what would be expected by chance if there were, in fact, no real differences.
