(Neolithic) Agricultural Revolution
The transition from foraging to the the cultivation of food occurring about 8000-2000 BCE; also known as the Neolithic Revolution.

A term for hunting and gathering.
Neolithic Age
The New Stone Age; began after the Paleolithic Age; named for its characteristic tools made from stone.
Neolithic Revolution
The shift from hunting and gathering to the domestication of animals and the growing and farming of food.
Paleolithic Age
Also called the Old Stone Age; the concern for a shortage of food was solved by starting to end nomadic movement and instead farming.
pastoralism
The practice of herding.
slash-and-burn cultivation
An agricultural method in which farmers clear fields by cutting and burning trees, then use the ashes as fertilizer.
specialization of labor
The division of labor that aids the development of skills in a particular type of work.
