  • Tongues make up more space in pharynx
  • Trachea is narrower, softer, and flexible
  • Cricoid cartilage is less developed and less rigid
  • Rib cage does not narrow on inferior end, generating negative pressure is more difficult
  • Trouble breathing rely more on diaphragm (seesaw breathing pattern)
