provides the address of the page or resource to the browser. The URL must always appear in quotation marks

What are the 2 ways to specify the URL

- Absolute URL’s: provide the full URL for the document, including the protocol (http://), the domain name, and the pathname i.e. “http://www.oreilly.com/”
- Relative URL’s: describe the pathname to a file relative to the current document. Relative URL’s can be used when you’re linking to another document on your own site.
