Baselining is a practice that establishes a baseline of which Configuration Items are to be monitored and which can safely be ignored in deployment.

VI is embedding immutable version ID’s into CI’s. This allows you to verify that the essential components have been succesfully deployed and, in combination with hashes, allows detection of unauthorized changes.
