Appraisal
how we perceive & evaluate an emotional situation

concerns - evaluative judgments of how good/ bad an event is for a person
Bad or Good?
Negative evaluations are stronger than positive evaluations
Discrete approaches
Appraisals give rise to directly distinct emotions
Dimensional approaches
Primary appraisals decide if something is good/bad
Secondary appraisals are socially constructed
