type text
you can use type to express the ideas conveyed in a files imagery or to deliver an additional message.
Type
should be limited, direct and to the point.
Font
the way the characters look. (size, color, and design.)
Outline type
is mathematically defined, can be scaled to any size without losing its Sharpe, smooth edges.
bitmap type
composed of pixels, and can be developed, jagged edges when enlarged.
Serif font
has a tail or stroke at the end of the characters.
Sans serif font
do not have tails and are commonly used in headlines.
Symbol fonts
used to display unique characters.
Points
the size of each character is measured in ( 1 in is equivalent to 72 points or 6 picas)
default photoshop type
size is 12 points
structure
determines the size and physical properties of the object.
shading
determines the lighting effects.
angle
determines where the shadow falls relative to the text.
altitude
affects the amount of visible dimension.
gloss contour
determines the pattern with which light is reflective.
highlight mode and shadow mode
determine how pigments are combined.
rasterized
converted to an image layer can no longer be edited.
distort filters
let you created waves or curves in type glass, pinch, ripple,etc.
relief
height of ridges within an object
type spacing
adjustment made between characters and lines of type
monotype spacing
each character occupies the same amount of space
proportional spacing
each character can take up different amount of space.
kerning
controls the amount of space between characters and can affect several characters a word or an entire paragraph
tracking
inserts uniform amount of space between selected characters.
leading
changes amount of space between lines of text
character palette
helps you manually or automatically control type of properties such as kerning, tracking, and leading
baseline
type rests on an invisible line
baseline shift
vertical distance that type moves from its baseline
layer styles
effects that can enhance the appearance of type
drop shadow
created an illusion that another colored layer of identical text is behind the selected text
distance
determines how far the shadow falls from the text
spread
determines the width of the shadow text
size
determines the clarity of the shadow
anti aliasing
partially fills in pixel edges with additional colors

Sharp
displays type with the best possible resolution
crisp
gives type more definition and makes type appear sharper

makes type appear heavier like bold
