Name the 4 methods of transmission of zoonoses:
(1) Contact with the skin
(2) A bite or scratch from an animal
(3) Direct inhalation or ingestion
(4) The bite of an arthropod vector
Define “Vector”
–defined as an insect or any living carrier that transports an infectious agent from an infected individual or its wastes to a susceptible individual or its food or immediate surroundings
Examples of VECTORS
–Various species of rodents (rats and mice)
–Arthropods (mosquitoes, ticks, sand flies, biting midges)
Name INFECTIOUS AGENTS OF MALARIA
– Plasmodium falciparum (most deadly 💀)
–Plasmodium vivax
– Plasmodium ovale
– Plasmodium malariae
Define “Zoonosis”
–refers to an infection or infectious diseases transmissible under natural conditions from vertebrate animals to humans
