What is the aim and purpose of a survey?
explanatory and descriptive purposes
purpose is to find out the opinions and attitudes in a population
What are the 2 types of longitudinal studies?
trend and panel
What is a trend study?
Carrying out surveys on the same population over a period of time
eg. taking two or more samples from a population more than once
What is a panel study?
carrying out surveys to track changes in the same individuals over a period of time
True or false, your research topic should guide you to the research method, bot the other way around

A good questionnaire meets at least 2 basic criteria. What are they?
1– respondents can easily understand it
2– the questionnaire measures what it was designed to measure
What is a dichotomous question?
a question that offers two options, generally a true or false question, yes or no question, or even an agree or disagree question

Why are closed-ended questions preferred?
Easy to administer and easy to analyze
What does exhaustive mean?
That the question includes all possible/expected responses
What does mutually exclusive mean?
that there are no overlaps between possible answers, they stand on their own
What is the major drawback to closed-ended questions?
the fixed categories to choose from are created by the researcher. Respondents aren’t able to clarify their answer

What is a double barrelled question?
when the question combines two or more questions into one, but the respondent is expected to provide a single answer.
