Chapter 5 Flashcards
Raw Score
These original, unchanged scores that are the direct result of measurement are called raw scores.
Z-Score
Specifies the precise location of each X value within a distribution.
Deviation Score
The numerator of the equation, X-μ, is a deviation score.
Z-Score Transformation
Specifically, if every X value is transformed into a z-score, then the distribution of z-scores will have the following properties, shape, the mean and the standard deviation.
Standardized Distribution
Is composed of scores that have been transformed to create predetermined values for μ and σ.
Standardized Score
Standard scores are also called z-values, z-scores, normal scores, and standardized variables. They are most frequently used to compare an observation to a theoretical deviate, such as a standard normal deviate .
