color mode
the amount of color that can be stored in a given file format.
color model
determines how pigments combine to produce resulting colors.
bitmap
image displayed on your monitor, such as an icon.

it is beyond the color space that your monitor can display.
hue
color reflected from or transmitted through and object.
saturation
the strength of purity of the color representing the amount of gray.
brightness
measurement of relative lightness or darkness of a color is measured as a percentage form 0 black to 100 white
channels
the 3 colors used to produce colors green red and blue.
additive colors
used for lighting video and computer monitors color is created by adding red green and blue light.
cmyk
based on colors being absorbed as the ink hits the paper and being reflected back to your eyes- uses cyan, yellow, magenta, black
rgb
uses red green blue and green to mix colors.
grayscale mode
used up to 250 shades of gray
foreground color
black by default used. to fill color to a selection
background color
white by default and is used to make gradient file.
gradient
gradual blend
color picker
feature that lets you choose a color form a color spectrum or numerically define a color.
swatches pannel
visual display of colors you can choose from.
stroke
lets you add a border around an image or text.
grayscale images
can contain up to 256 shades of gray- used to emphasize or create a certain mood.
blending mode
control how pixels are made darker or lighter
filters
commands that let you significantly alter and image’s appearance.
base color
original color of the image
blend color
color you apply with a paint or edit tool
target
image you are working with.

image that contains the color you are pulling from.
