A time in history when people from Europe traveled to faraway and unfamiliar places, such as Africa and the Americans, in order to learn about them and make maps of them. The age of exploration began in the late 1400s and continued through the 1500s.

People who travel to a new and unfamiliar places in order to learn about what these places are like and describe them in words, pictures, and maps.

Scientists who study human artifacts to learn about past cultures.
Ore
Rock or earth from which metal can be taken.
Cash crop
A crop that is grown in large quantities for sale to other people
