Chapter 4. Statistical Analysis Flashcards
Which three activities should you do before you do a statistical analysis?
- Cleaning data
- Coding data
- Organizing data
How can we measure spread?
- Range
- Variances
- Standard deviations
What is range, variance and standard deviations?
Range measures the distance between the highest and the lowest score in the data set. Highest - lowest = range. The higher, the more distributed the data set is.
The varience of a data set is the mean of the squared distances of all the scores from the mean of the data set. When you take the square root of this, you get the standard deviation. The higher those numbers are, the more distributed are the data set.
