Q

Extrapyramidal Pathways

A
  • do NOT enter pyramids in Medulla, these are those that do not cross over

16
Q

Respiratory Cycle

A

-Boyle’s Law -Law of Gases -Inspiration and Expiration

17
Q

Inspiration

A

Inhalation of Air -Increase in lung vol -decrease in Lung pressure -Increase in air pressure outside the body

18
Q

Expiration

A

Exhalation -Decrease in lung vol -Increase in lung pressure -Decrease in air pressure outside the body

19
Q

Muscles of Respiration

A

Inspiratory -diaphragm -external intercostals Expiratory -Internal intercostals

20
Q

Bernoulli effect

A

-when the speed of airflow along a surface increases, the air pressure against that surface decreases. -as air rushes out btw the VF’s when they are blown apart, the pressure against their surfaces reduces, and they are sucked back together by the partial vacuum that is created. -the cycle repeats

21
Q

4 Lobes of the Brain

A

-Frontal -Parietal -Temporal -Occipital

22
Q

Frontal lobe

A

-speech production -motor movement -cognition

23
Q

Parietal lobe

A

-sensory language

24
Q

Temporal

A

-hearing -receptive language -Wornicke’s ?

25
Q

Occipital lobes

A

-vision

26
Q

How many spinal nerves do we have?

A

31 spinal nerves

27
Q

of sacral vertebrae

A

5 pelvic

28
Q

Types of Vertebrae

A

-Cervical -Thoracic -Lumbar -Sacral -Coccygeal

29
Q

of cervical vertebrae

A

7 neck

30
Q

of thoracic vertebrae

A

12 chest

31
Q

of lumbar vertebrae

A

5 lower back

32
Q

of coccygeal vertebrae

A

1 tailbone

33
Q

Aerodynamic Myoelastic Theory

A

Myo- means muscle; the vocal folds, after all, are mostly comprised of muscle tissue. The -elastic suffix serves to remind us that the vocal fold is elastic and that we have active control over its elastic properties

34
Q

Perceptual Quality

A

how you sound to the ear of the listener

35
Q

Phonation: Subglottal Pressure

A

important in vocalization, particlarly in sounds that use opening and closing of the glottis.
