Chapter 4- Scatterots Flashcards
What does a scatter plot use
It uses ordered pairs
What correlations are possible
Positive correlation - where the points go up to the right
Negative correlation- where the points go down to the left
No correlation- scattered everywhere
Definition of a strong correlation
Weak correlation
Strong correlation - most of the data is lining up in a straight line
Weak correlation- it’s is either positive or negative but more space between the points
Definition of trend
Saying what is happening on graph. Giving the correlation and variables
Dependant variable definition
Independent variable definition
Dependant - relys on other factors (relys on independent variable) it’s the y-axis on a graph
Independent- does not rely on other factors. It’s on the x-axis on a graph
Why are outliers
Outliers are the points of data that are no where near the main trend
How is a scatter plot divided
It is divided into 4 quadrants
