Q

How does regionalism affect the Canadian political and economic system?

A

It can cause a lot of tension in the provinces. For example, equalization payments. It forces federal to sort of pick and choose between one province or the other (or at least people perceive it that way).
It can promote and discourage provincial integration. It could bring to light real favouritism that exists. It could lead to secessionist movements.
