Explain the link between carbon dioxide and global warming

Carbon Dioxide forms a blanket around the Earth’s atmosphere.
This ‘blanket’ allows heat from the Sun to enter the atmosphere but then traps it within the atmosphere. This causes the Earth’s temperature to increase.
