Chapter 4 Flashcards
Nucleus
Contains most of the cell’s DNA
Chromatin
Combination of DNA and protein that makes up eukaryotic
Nuclear envelope
A double membrane that encloses the nucleus
Nucleolus
Structure within the nucleus that makes RNA
Endomembrane system
Network of membranes inside and outside the eukaryotic cell
Vesicle
A sac made of membrane in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells
Lysosomes
A membranous sac of digestive enzymes
They are digestive compartments within a cell
Golgi apparatus
Vesicles come here after leaving the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)
2 types of Endoplasmic reticulum
Rough Endoplasmic reticulum and smooth Endoplasmic reticulum
Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum
It is smooth because it lacks attached ribosomes
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
Has ribosomes on its membrane and appears rough on the electron micrograph
