Americans are preoccupied with the their rights. They believe they should be free to do pretty much as they please, with some exceptions, as long as they don’t hurt others
Equality
Americans believe everyone should have an equal vote and an equal chance to participate and succeed
Democracy
Americans think government officials should be accountable to the people
Individual responsibilities
A characteristically American view is that bringing some disability individuals are responsible for their own actions and well being
Civic Duty
A belief that one had an obligation to participate in civil affairs and politics
