Chapter 4 Flashcards
How many increasing strength decrease susceptibility to injury?
It will help your body be more prepared for continuous strain in the muscles
What is the relationships between oxygen consumption, heart rate, stroke, volume, and cardiac output?
Oxygen consumption, stroke, volume, and cardiac output all has to do with the blood pumping in and out of the heart. A.k.a. heartbeat.
Cardiac output
How much blood is the heart is capable of pumping in exactly 1 minute
Stroke volume
The volume of blood being pumped out with each beat
Oxygen consumption
How much oxygen you are getting
What are the advantages of conditioning for injury prevention?
If your muscles are used to performing a task, it is less likely that you will get injured
How does SAID principle relate to sports conditioning and injury prevention?
When the body is subjected to stresses and overload of very intensities, it will gradually, adapt, overtime, overcome whatever demands are placed on
What is the value of proper warm-up and cool down to sports injury prevention?
Prevent soreness and injury to unprepared muscles
What is the value of proper warm-up and cool down to sports injury prevention?
Prevent soreness and injury to unprepared muscles
What is the difference between aerobic and anaerobic training method?
Aerobic: long distance
Anaerobic: short distance
Why is year round conditioning so important for injury prevention?
You don’t have to build those muscles back up, making you less susceptible to injury
How is continuous training different from interval training?
Continuous: less difficult for longer
Interval: hard work than active recovery
