Point of origin
place were all transformation are executed in relation to a fixed point
4 basic methods for making transformations
click transform tools then click and drag anywhere on the artboard, double click transform tool, click transform tool then click artboard, click transform tool - press alt then click artboard
Free transform
applies an eight handled bounding box to selected images
Transform panel
displays info about the size, orientation and location of one or more selected objects
X and Y coordinates
indicate objects horizontal x, and vertical y, locations on artboard
Shear tool
shears at an angle
concentric
shares the same center point
outline stroke command
converts a stroked path into a closed path that is the same width as the original path
Compound shape
2 or more paths that are combined in such a way that holes appear wherever paths overlaps
Pathfinders
group of present operations that help you combine paths in a variety of ways
add to shape area
converts 2 or more overlapping objects into a single merged object
subtract from shape area
where objects overlap
intersect shape area
creates a single merged object from the area where two or more objects overlap
minus back
the opp. of subtract deletes the back most object from the furthermost object
divide
divides an object into its component filled faces
transformation
when u change a object size shape or position

offset path command
creates a copy of a selected path set off by a specified distance

good for creating complex or irregular shapes from basic shapes

allows you to put a picture inside words
