Chapter 31 Test Review Flashcards
loosely packed, cube - shaped cells, that contain central vacuole and have thin, flexible cells walls. Store water, photosynthesis and healing
Parenchyma
cells are thicker, irregular in shape. They support regions for the plant that are still lengthening
Collenchyma
cells have thick, even rigid cell walls. They support and strengthen the plant in areas where growth is no longer occurring
sclerenchyma
forms the outside covering of plants. It absorbs and protects
dermal tissue system
consists of all 3 types of plants. It supports, it stores and metabolism
ground tissue system
ground tissue surrounds this, refers to both xylem and phloem. It transports and supports
vascular tissue system
1.) epidermal cells of leaves pump K+ into guard cells
2.) H2O moves into guard cells by osmosis
3.) guard cells swell due to swelled state
4.) during darkness K+ ions are pumped out by guard cells
5.) water leaves cells by osmosis
6.) pore closes due to shrunken state
